Sorry for the Hiatus

Sorry everyone for the long break around here.  I have been switching gears and getting school started and back to a regular schedule.  Now that everything is settling back into a routine I hope to be posting regularly again.  How was your summer?  Hope it was great.  Now its time to think about fall.

We hope you have been doing well.  We have been very busy here at the cottage.  We were talking about our shop and it came around that we have a widely varied shop.  So, we decided to make it easier for those of you looking for just one type of product we'd open a sister store.  Introducing Blue Rabbit Bows.  We'll be doing one more split soon, so stay tuned for more information.  As of now though, we're transferring our bows over to their own shop, so check it out.

Oh Say Can You Fudge by Nancy Coco


Allie is the new girl in a small island community; she runs the fudge shop in a local hotel.  Trying to show she belongs in the community, Allie volunteers to head the fireworks for the big Fourth of July celebration.  Then disaster strikes.  The technician is murdered and all the fireworks are destroyed and Allie is left with a mystery and no show.  After discovering a string of arsons Allie finds herself trapped in the middle of the mystery, she has to solve who murdered her technician, and who is setting random fires around the island before she gets killed in the process.

Corpse Pose by Diana Killian a Mantra for Murder Mystery

A.J. finds herself sole heir to her aunt's yoga studio after her aunt is found murdered in that very same studio.  A.J. and her overly dramatic mother work together to solve the murder while the police look at A.J. as their prime suspect.  This book offers some information about yoga and has some recipes at the end.  The characters are fun, and I'd like to find more in this series.

The Marvels by Brian Selznick

Don't let the size of this book put you off! This 600 page behemoth reads like a 100 page novel.  If you read The Invention of Hugo Cabret you will understand why this book is as large as it is.  Mr. Selznick tells his story with a mixture of words and breathtaking pictures.  The entire first half of this novel is a complete story using pictures with very few words added in.  The second half is the story of a boy and his discovery and adventure with The Marvels.  This book beautifully tied together the past and the present into one wild ride of a story.

Feta Attraction by Susannah Hardy

This is the first book in the A Greek to Me Mystery series.  When Georgie Nikolopatos' husband goes missing and owner of her rival restaurant turns up dead, Georgie finds herself at the top of the suspect list.  She has to run the family restaurant, deal with the crew of the TV show ghost hunters, find her husband and the killer before she finds herself in deep water.  This book was not my favorite of the cozies I've read lately.  There was too much going on in one book and while the author does pull all the strings together into a neat package, I just was mildly underwhelmed.  However, I am willing to try another book in the series, I'm hoping she was just setting up the premise for the whole series.

Slow and Steady

This week has been a little slow for the Blue Rabbit Cottage.  I've been busy making baby presents for several of my friends, and finishing the school year up with my fourth grader.  Time just flies by and suddenly it is Friday again.  Thanks for stopping by to visit us at the Blue Rabbit Cottage.  I have a few design ideas to show you, a simple yummy recipe, and a fun book to share. 

On the Design Table

I've been working on some necklace designs this week some are more fleshed out than others.

The mostly finished one is probably my favorite, but it is hard to choose.  Do you have a favorite?  It will be exciting to see how they get blinged out in the next week or so.

Creamy Chicken Pasta

1 lb chicken
2 cans crushed tomatoes
1 cup spinach
1cup sour cream
1 box penne pasta

Cook chicken in pan.

Once cooked through add spinach and tomatoes warm through:

add sour cream.

Meanwhile cook pasta based on box directions.  Add cooked pasta to the sauce mixture and serve.

It is so simple and quick. A great meal for these hot nights, serve alone or with a salad.

On the Bookshelf

The Proof is in the Pudding by Melinda Wells.  Della Carmichael owns a cooking school and has her own cable cooking show.  She's asked to step in last minute and be one of the three judges for a cook off at a local hotel.  Then one of the other judges is murdered and Della's friend is the prime suspect.  Della knows she has to step in and find the real killer before her friend is thrown in jail.  This is a good read and even includes several recipes in the back of the book.  This book is good for any cozy reader.
